Events

COVID-19 With the continuing restrictions on gatherings I am continuing to offer online versions of the courses. I have left the descriptions of events as they were to give you a flavour of the kind of gatherings I offer.……….

In the meantime I have been inspired to create some new forms of the courses during these strange times. These are in two forms:

Teaching offered to small groups where we meet online on zoom combined with self study materials and guided explorations for you to practice between sessions. The background material and core practices of this work, are shared with you both on the calls and through audio file recordings which I send out directly to each participant. The zoom and self study combo courses are listed below and more are being added over then next weeks……….

The other form is uniquely designed self study courses available for purchase. To view the self study courses click here

Some of these courses filled as soon as word went out to subscribers and before they were more widely advertised. So if you would like to be the first to know, then feel free to add your email address to my subscribe link found in various spots on the site.

If there is an event that you would like to offer to your own community or group, then I’m always very happy to tailor days or longer courses to support your ideas and vision. You’re welcome to email me to open that conversation………

Animal Communication Skills
21st January 2021
Animal Communication Skills

Have you ever wanted to be able to understand what the animals you love are saying??

Have you wanted to be able to ask and understand how to take best care of them?

Have you wanted to be able to deepen your relationship?

Then this zoom supported course will teach you a clear methodology for beginning to do exactly this, and more besides.

Catriona Macdonald will be sharing skills developed over more than 30 years of osteopathic and healing work with animals. Skills which she believes are innate to every person and have merely been forgotten in this modern, fast paced world. She will guide you into reawakening your natural ability to sense the communications of the animals we share our lives with, and explain how the very structure and physiology of our bodies allows us to do so.

There are a total of 5 meetings on zoom each for 90 minutes.  A small circle exploring together with audio files of the background info to the practices and structured exercises to support you in developing your skills……All of the practices are also shared on recordings which you can download onto your devices and then explore with your animals between our meetings.

Completion of the course opens the opportunity for you to join an ongoing development circle and in time, as restrictions ease, we can move to gathering with the creatures at Horse Haven and other locations.

Remembering the Circle of Belonging
POSTPONED - DATES TBA
Remembering the Circle of Belonging

What does it mean to live a sustaining life in the heart of the city?

There are many different answers to this question: care for your body and mind; slow down; nurture relationships; be creative; shop local; earn more money; do your recycling; find a job you love (…..add your own favourite!). But in the spin of it all we can forget the deep truth that our primary place of belonging is to the land and the wildness that birthed us. It never changes and never lets us down. But like all relationships, it takes attention and practice.

This course will give you tools and experiences to remember and develop right relationship with the wildness around you. We call it remembering because it isn’t new, our neurology and body awareness has evolved perfectly for nature connection over millions of years. It’s life in the city which is new.

In this introductory course Catriona will guide us through the tools and practices she has developed over years of working in this way. These will benefit you personally, offering simple ways in to experiencing the circle of belonging with the wild ones around you and so supporting your relationships with people too.

These practices can also be applied to your work context, be that a therapeutic practice (eg. yoga, mindfulness, counselling, etc), social design and development work, education, or through your leadership. If it’s possible in the borough with the lowest per ca pita green space (Islington), it’s possible anywhere!

Course content is grounded in anatomy and neurological sciences (no expertise needed from participants) as well as the mythic wisdom of indigenous cultures who have preserved their knowledge of interdependence with the wild world since the beginning.

Awakening Into Kinship
CURRENTLY A ZOOM TRAINING......FURTHER DATES TBA
Awakening Into Kinship

This four day fully residential and catered course is an exploration of our true relationship with our other-than-human kin. It is designed to draw us into a slower, more original tempo of being and into a deep awakening to ourselves as sensing beings. Over the days at Wildwood Farm, we will court the wild soul of the world, bringing ourselves back into a circle of belonging with the other-than-human

life there, and in so doing, remembering ourselves as ?one of the myriad wild things of this world?.

During our time together at Wildwood Farm we will camp on the land, creating a human village amongst our wild kin there; weaving the bond between us and in so doing, building the foundations of our time together, and beyond. Beginning with a shared meal on Friday evening, we will gather around the fire for a telling of one of the old stories. We will invite them to journey with us, becoming carriers of their gifts and teachings and allowing them to inform our responses to these times of loss and separation.

Using a variety of movement practices, we will explore ways to open up our innate ability for sensing through the physicality of our animal bodies. We will learn skills of heart centred perception and discover how to find our way into the full potency of the Meeting Place, so that the natural abundance of life can flow most freely. The workshop will include practices of crafting as prayer-making, simple ceremony, and likely, a visit to a nearby lake.

This is very much a practical course and there will also be plenty of openings for sharing our experiences and for individual explorations and reflections. The heart of the work will be to discover how we can respond in very practical ways to these troubling times, crafting responses for co-creating a new earth within the circle of belonging which is at the root of all life.

A non-refundable deposit of $225 is required to secure your spot (by cheque payable to Susie Osler or e-transfer to susieosler@mac.com). The balance ($225) will be due July 1, 2020. A reminder will be sent two weeks prior to this with additional details/checklist/things to bring/ directions etc.

NOTE: $10 from your fee will be donated to the Ardoch-Apagidiwag Culture Camp – a local camp that brings together Indigenous youth, adults and elders for cultural teachings two weeks each summer.
